Gatekeeper: All applicants must be sixteen years old by Monday, May 1st to be eligible for this position. Gatekeeper positions are excellent for those individuals who anticipate a busy summer schedule or are taking more than five consecutive days off. This is a part-time position that requires individuals to interact with the community through a variety of activities. As a gatekeeper, individual responsibilities will include; general park maintenance, revenue collection, answering phones, inventory control, crowd control and supervision of parks while they are in use. Gatekeepers may work at one or more of the following parks: The East Greenbush Town Park (Elliot Road), Onderdonk Memorial Park (Hampton Avenue), and Hampton Manor Park (Lakeshore Drive). Camp Counselors: It is preferred that all applicants be seventeen years old, or sixteen years old, with experience working with children, by Monday, May 1st to be eligible for this position. This is a full-time, six week position that requires counselors to work for the duration of camp, which is thirty days. All counselors should try to schedule appoints for before or after camp and may take up to five consecutive days off and only if there is coverage. Our department is looking for counselors who are hard working, fun-loving individuals that love interacting with children. Counselors will assist directors and supporting staff members as a team to supervise a population of approximately 200 campers split into 5-6 groups of 20-25 children each. Each group will be supervised by three camp counselors and 1-2 C.I.T.’s. There is also a Day Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Medical Director on hand to help. Camp consists of two, three week sessions of camp, which runs Monday-Friday at the Town Park, located on Elliot Road. All staff must be at the park promptly at 8:30 a.m. to set up for the days activities and will work to 3:30 p.m. to help– clean up after camp. Lifeguards: All applicants must be sixteen years old by Monday, May 1st to be eligible for this position. This is a part/full time position that requires individuals to be Red Cross Certified to be eligible to begin work. As a lifeguard, individuals will be assigned to either Day Camp or Public Swim. Lifeguards are responsible for supervising individuals while they are in the water or at the waterfront. Lifeguards are also responsible for the general upkeep and appearance of the beach during their shift and may be requested to rake the beach occasionally. |
