Project Review Committee PDF Print E-mail
The Project Review Committee was designed to guide and facilitate movement of proposed projects in the town from conception to completion. Project facilitation includes coordination of meetings with the town, county and state agencies so the applicant can go to one meeting in the town and not have to schedule separate meetings with agencies like the county health department, NYS Department of Transportation or Department of Environmental Conservation. The initial screening is designed to discover zoning problems, or technical and infrastructure issues that could involve issues like roads, water or sewers. Finding problems at the beginning of the process can be valuable in preventing false starts, before financial commitments are made. Or it could provide a head start in finding and developing solutions before paperwork is started. It is also possible the review may determine that the project is not feasible at all and not likely to be approved if the applicant proceeds.

Project summaries are sent to all town department heads insuring compliance and compatibility with public safety, infrastructure and code compliance issues. The committee includes: William Haney, Planning Board Chairman; Rick McCabe, Town Supervisor; Jim Moore, Planning Director; Joseph Cherubino, Building Inspector; Peter Partak, Commissioner of Public Works; and Judy Condo, Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals is also invited when zoning issues are involved.

Applicants are encouraged to meet with the team, even before forms are completed and filed. Project size does not matter; large commercial or residential developers or individual home owners considering a deck, pool or addition to living space are assured full consideration and help by the team. Town leaders are enthusiastic about the success of the Project Review Team which they feel can be attributed to the technical expertise and long experience of the members and the commitment of the twon to economic development.
