News Release for : EAST GREENBUSH PROPERTY OWNERS

Many of the Town’s Property Owners did not receive their Change of Assessment Notices resulting from the Informal Hearings during the first week of May, as did the rest of the Town residents. The Department of Assessment thoroughly investigated this problem.  To ensure, that our residents received their notices, GAR Appraisal Company, Contractor for the Town of East Greenbush on the reassessment program, re-mailed notices to all owners within the 12144 zip code area on Monday May 12, 2008.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2008, the original mailings postmarked May 2, 2008 were delivered to those residents.  Please be advised, that you will be receiving a second notice dated May 13, 2008.  We apologize for the inconvenience to you with the additional mailing; however, we could not take the chance that the original mailing would be delivered.

Please note, that the formal Grievance Day is May 27, 2008.  The Tentative Assessment Roll has been open for public inspections since May 1, 2008, at the Department of Assessment and will remain open until May 27, 2008, during the hours of 9AM until 4PM.  In addition,  the Tentative Rolls will be open on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 9:30AM until 1:30 PM, and on May 21, 2008, from 4PM until 8PM.

Applications for the formal Grievance may be downloaded from the Town’s website:  east greenbush.org or may be picked up at the Department of Assessment, 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
