TOWN OF EAST GREENBUSH
SUPERVISOR'S REPORT THROUGH November 25, 2007
by Rick McCabe

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We certainly had a beautiful day to celebrate this holiday. On behalf of the Town Board and the residents of East Greenbush, I would like to offer special thanks to our troops who continue to unselfishly serve our country in order to protect our freedoms. The Town of East Greenbush is holding its annual Appliance Amnesty the week of December 3-7, 2007. Residents can have unwanted metal appliances removed from the curbside during this week. Please call Public Works (477-6103) for details and to make an appointment to have appliance(s) removed free of charge.

The Town of East Greenbush will be holding the 2007 East Greenbush Awards Dinner at the Melvin Roads Post on Saturday, December 1st. Organizations will be acknowledged for their untiring efforts in providing services for our community.

The Road to the Miracle League is finished and the groundbreaking ceremony for the field was held. Thanks to many people who are contributing both time and money, the Miracle League Field for disabled children will be ready to use in 2008. Hopefully, this field will be a model for many other communities.

Our Dog Park is 95% finished - just waiting for the signage to arrive. The Town Board was pleased to honor the Melvin Roads Post team members for being the 2007 New York State American Legion Baseball Champions.

We are also pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Johnson as the newest member of the East Greenbush Police Department.

The East Greenbush Youth Department and Teagan's Steak and Seafood are sponsoring the Annual Holiday Homes Exterior Decorations Contest. Houses will be judged Monday, December 17th. Prizes from local area businesses will be given for first, second and third places. For more information, please contact the Department for Youth Service and Recreation at 477-4194. The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Party will be held at 6 PM prior to our December 12th Town Board Meeting.

As always, I have an open-door policy at Town Hall. Please feel free to drop by.

Following is the list of resolutions for November:

  • Transfer of ownership of K-9 Artus
  • Resolution authorizing an Agreement with Rensselaer County concerning snow and ice removal
