East Greenbush "Community and Youth Protection Law" on the Agenda for  the  8/13/08 Town Board Meeting

At the 7/9/08 Town Board meeting The East Greenbush Town Board  tabled  a proposed local law, which is on the agenda for the 8/13/08 Meeting. The proposed law is intended to protect the public interest, welfare, health, quality of life, and safety within the Town of East Greenbush by prohibiting the service to and consumption of alcoholic beverages and drugs by persons under the age of twenty-one (21) at private residences located in the Town.  The Town Board finds that the occurrence of social gatherings at private residences where alcoholic beverages or drugs are served to or consumed by persons under the age of twenty-one (21) is harmful to such persons themselves and a threat to public welfare, health and safety.  The Town Board finds further that persons under the age of twenty-one (21) often obtain alcoholic beverages or drugs at such gatherings with the knowledge of or assistance by adult property owners or adult persons in control of a residence and that such service and/or consumption and will be more likely to ensure that alcoholic beverages and drugs are neither served to nor consumed by persons under the age of twenty-one (21) at these gatherings.

Law PAssed To Increase the Number of Alternates on the Town Planning Board

At the 7/9/08 Town Board meeting, the East Greenbush Town Board passed  a local law to to increase the number of alternates on the planning board of the Town of East Greenbush pursuant to Town Law Section 271 (15) (a).

The additional Alternate Town Planning Board Members shall serve for a term of seven (7) years and shall be authorized to act on behalf of any regular Town Planning Board Members in the event of illness or unavailability as is provided in Section 271 of the Town Law of the State of New York.  The effect of this amendment shall be to increase the number of Alternates from zero (0) to  two (2) for the Planning Board of the Town of East Greenbush.

 

 A Public Hearing regarding both of these this proposed local laws was held on July 9 and the draft copy of the complete law passed by the Board on 7/9/09 adding "Alternates on the Town Planning Board" and the proposed "Community and Youth Protection Law" are available in the Town Board Resolutions area of the Document Download area.
