East Greenbush Town-Wide Reassessment Notice PDF Print E-mail

By now, most property owners in the Town of East Greenbush have received their reassessment values prepared by GAR Associates, Inc., an independent contractor who was retained jointly by the Towns of East Greenbush, Schodack, and Sand Lake to provide updated values on all real estate parcels in the three Towns.

Based upon the number of concerned citizens who have contacted Town officials, the East Greenbush Town Board Members as well as myself believe that it is important at this time to assure taxpayers that mechanisms are available so that any inaccuracies in your assessment can be corrected.  Please contact the office of the East Greenbush Town Assessor, Susan F. McCarthy, at telephone number (518) 477-9710 as soon as possible so as to confirm whether you can still participate in the informal adjustment process currently being conducted with the assistance of GAR Associates, Inc. Please note that the Town Assessor can also be reached by mail at 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, New York 12144, or by fax at (518) 689-2495. Ms McCarthy can also be reached by e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

If you disagree with your assessment, a wealth of information is available at the website of the New York State Office of Real Property Services (www.orps.state.ny.us). In most municipalities, the period for formal assessment review extends from May 1st until the 4th Tuesday in May. Please confirm with Ms. McCarthy the exact dates and procedures her office is utilizing for purposes of scheduling hearings, if needed, with the East Greenbush Board of Review. If you are still not satisfied even after meeting with the Board of Assessment Review, please note that you may still be able to seek a more formal judicial review of our assessment pursuant to the New York State Real Property Tax Law.

The East Greenbush Town Board remains committed to assisting the taxpayers of the Town of East Greenbush in having fair assessments placed against their properties. The Town Board will be taking action shortly to appoint additional members to the Assessment Review Board to handle the great number of reviews we believe will take place this year. Please continue to monitor information posted to our new Town website (www.eastgreenbush.org) concerning our assistance to you on the reassessment process.

Thank You.
