The 2008 Final Assessment Roll was filed and opened to the public on July 1, 2008. Anyone who filed a grievance on their property and was dissatisfied with the Board of Assessment Review’s determination may file for a Small Claims Assessment Hearing.LAST DAY TO FILE: July 30, 2008

HOW TO GET APPLICATION: www.orps.state.ny.us Click on forms & publications You need – RP730 OR: from the Rensselaer County Clerks Office: The application for Small Claims Assessment was attached in the Booklet “How to Grieve Your Assessment”. ASSESSMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (AIS)In order to update the system with any changes that the Board of Assessment Review made resulting from a grievance being filed, it is mandatory that we shut down the system to update it. If you are planning to go on to the Small claims Assessment Review Hearings, you would want to use the most updated information to build your case. While the system is down, some upgrades to pictures and sketches are being updated to the system as well.
Please call the Department of Assessment, to verify any assessment you may be using for the Small claims Assessment Hearings. (518-477-9710).

Exciting News About Our ASSESSMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (AIS)Coming soon!I am pleased to announce that the City of Rensselaer and the City of Troy have joined the Consortium currently, made of the Towns of East Greenbush, Sand Lake and Schodack. Since May 1, 2008, we have received many emails and, telephone calls; both positive and negative regarding the Assessment Information System (AIS), and from your input, numerous changes and enhancements have been made. Changes include, but not limited to: Visual Properties – Look and Feel of AIS, Search Functions, Property Description, Comparables, Data including GIS Data and Non – GIS Data. Effective July 2, 2008, the AIS system will be down to update all the changes resulting from the Grievance Periods in the Towns of East Greenbush, Sand Lake and Schodack. In addition, the AIS system will be submitted to the Office of Real Property System for their Audit. Then the system will be back on line.
