Children ages four-twelve, who reside in the East Greenbush School District boundaries may enjoy four hours of holiday fun while parents/guardians finish those last minute details. This program will take place Saturday, December 8, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Red Mill elementary School, located off McCullough Place in Hampton Manor. Pre-registration is required as there will be a limit of 75 participants entered on a first come first serve basis. Children may enjoy arts and crafts, fun with food, games, movie time, a pizza party, and may enjoy Gilbert the Giant Bird. Due to price increases for building use, and the addition of new activities, the fee this year has increased to $10.00 per participant, sorry for the inconvenience. Children will be split into four groups (A, B, C, D) and will rotate through a schedule that will follow a format similar to the schedule below (schedules may vary according to group):
Holiday Homes:The Town of East Greenbush is a beautiful menagerie of holiday decorations come December and the Department for Youth Services and Recreation. The East Greenbush Youth Commission and Teagan’s Steak and Seafood would like to thank you for your effort by sponsoring the annual Holiday Homes Exterior Decorations Contest. Houses will be judged Monday, December 17th. Winners will be contacted shortly after, and will be announced in local papers and at the January Town Board Meeting. Prizes from local area businesses will be given for first, second, and third. Winners will have their names in the newspaper. Please be advised, The Rensselaer Times Union, The Independent, or The Troy Record may want to photograph your home for their paper. Holiday Tree Lighting:The Department for Youth Services and Recreation presents the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. This ceremony will be at the East Greenbush Town Hall Community Room, 225 Columbia Turnpike. People may enjoy music and a special visit with Santa. Light refreshments will be served. The department also accepts non-perishable food items or toys for charitable causes. |
